Mission: “Serving with Christ’s love, connecting God’s people, and sustaining community on the streets.”

URBAN BICYCLE FOOD MINISTRY

Every week we deliver 200+ meals to people affected by homelessness and poverty in the Nashville area.

UBFM has a three-part Mission

Mission: “Serving with Christ’s love, connecting God’s people, and sustaining community on the streets.”

The Urban Bicycle Food Ministry is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to serving individuals affected by homelessness and poverty. While rooted in Christian values, we are intentionally inclusive—welcoming volunteers from all faiths and backgrounds. We believe that small, tangible acts of kindness can bring light and love into our communities. With nothing more than a bicycle, a backpack, and a generous spirit, anyone can make a meaningful difference.

When we meet our neighbors on the streets, we strive to build genuine relationships. Many of them are often overlooked or ignored, leading them to feel uncared for and unseen. We counter that by asking about their day, their stories, and any specific needs we might be able to meet. We inquire about prayer concerns and offer to pray for or with them. We also ask when and where we can find them on our next ride. Through these simple but intentional interactions, we help ensure our neighbors know they are valued, remembered, and cared for.

To build relationships. (Connect)

The Urban Bicycle Food Ministry embodies the spirit of a “church without walls.” We gather not in a building but as a community of people called to serve. Our city is our sanctuary, and the streets are our mission field. We go directly to our neighbors experiencing homelessness, meeting them where they are with food, essential supplies, and compassionate presence—reminding them regularly that they are seen, loved, cared for, and prayed for.

At the heart of UBFM’s mission is the commitment to connect people with people. We believe it is impossible to understand someone’s struggle without giving them space to share it—and no one can be heard unless someone is truly listening. UBFM creates that outlet, offering volunteers the chance to hear our neighbors’ stories and, in doing so, to discover their own unique gifts for serving those affected by homelessness.

Through these relationships, the UBFM movement has grown beyond our city, expanding into communities such as Des Moines, Dubuque, Colorado Springs, and Chicago. If you’re interested in starting a UBFM chapter in your area, reach out—we’re here to support you. All it takes is a desire to create love and kindness, and we will gladly guide you every step of the way.

“Imagine a brother or sister who is naked and never has enough food to eat. What if one said, ‘Go in peace! Stay warm! Have a nice meal!’? What good is it if you don’t actually give them what their body needs?”
